Description
Made in Dagenham is based on the real-life events of the 1968 Ford sewing machinists strike in Dagenham, England.
The story centres on Rita O’Grady, a working-class woman who becomes an unlikely leader in the fight for gender equality. Rita and her female co-workers at the Ford factory are unfairly classified as unskilled labourers, receiving lower wages than their male counterparts. Frustrated by the injustice, Rita takes a stand and leads her fellow women in a strike that eventually garners national attention. As the girls’ inspiring journey gets bigger than anyone could have imagined, the pressure is too much for some, but can Rita keep up the fight and the happy home she’s worked so hard for?
This is a tale of empowerment, solidarity, and the triumph of justice in the face of adversity.
Join us on a trip to Dagenham where ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they stand together.
